Katie and David’s Wedding Video at The Howey Mansion

How They Met

They met through mutual friends 10 years ago when they were in high school.  What was young love to most ended up being true love for these two.  Through the years they have experienced great joys, and hardships, terrible losses and new surprises.  But through it all they found something new to love in each other and grew closer as the time went on.  They see the best in one another and remind each other of who they want to be.  With each day they add to the greatest adventure of their lives!

The Wedding

When they found The Howey Mansion they knew right away it was the absolute perfect venue for their dream wedding.  Having only opened 1 year ago this was our first wedding here and we couldn’t have been more excited!  The mansion is almost 100 years old and designed in the Mediterranean Revival style.  When you walk in it’s like stepping back in time to a simpler era where luxury was cherished and the furniture was so ornate it looks more like a piece of art than something to sit in.  The house is decorated  to the nines with no detail left out.   There’s even many antique books in the library!  Katie started the day getting ready in the bridal suite with Victorian furniture surrounding her.  Katie herself even looked as if she had stepped back in time.

David arrived on The Trolley with his groomsmen.  With his clothes hanging below the antlers on the wall, he got ready next to the antique full length mirror.   Once David was ready it was time for a first look with his future wife. As Katie gracefully walked down the grand staircase to David the tears filled up in both their eyes.  You would never guess they have been together for so long as they embraced and David caressed Katie’s face in his hands.  We had an amazing time venturing into every crevice of this amazing estate!  It was like a true play land for a photographer!  After photos with family and their wedding party it was time for their ceremony.

Ceremony and Reception

A friend of the family led the ceremony with many traditional moments mixed in.  Their moms helped tie their hands in a celtic knot at the end to signify joining together forever. After the ceremony everyone was off to the cocktail hour where  Katie and David organized a scavenger hunt while they finished with photos.  Everyone found their name on a key hanging from an old shutter and found their seat on the grand lawn under the market lights and stars.  At each table they found another antique skeleton key and recipe for “Old Fashioned”, Katie and David’s favorite drink.  Dinner was served by Arthur’s Catering and was delicious!

After dinner everyone headed into the grand room for dancing from Our DJ Rocks and a fun open air photo booth.  Guests could venture down the secret staircase to the what they believe was a  liquor cache during Prohibition times.  It’s even rumored their was an underground tunnel to why 19!  Whatever they kept in there must have been valuable because it was locked with a fireproof vault door!  In this secret room guests were served Old Fashioned.  The night ended with Katie and David running through all their guests and off to their honeymoon!
